Hi..I would like to know if anyone has any info about this procedure that they can share. I am looking for real answers please as I am beyond the "you should have thought about it b4 you got it done" we all make mistakes. I am and African American with dark skin and wanted to know if I am a good canditate for tattoo removal by laser. The ink is Black and was done professionally. the area is about 2.5 * 2.5 inches and it is more of an outline...it doesn't have too much shading. I also wanted to know if anyone knows how the lenghth of time the ink has been in the skin affects removal. Some websites say older tattoos are harder to remove, and some websites say the opposite that new tattoos are harder to remove. Any comments or personal experiences anyone can share is greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has tried any Doctors in the Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia area that they are satisfied with please share thier information. Thanks in advance

From my understanding, tattoo removal almost always leaves a noticeable scar. Depending on the number of sessions it takes to remove and other factors, it may be more or less pronounced. Also, I have heard that it can be very painful, and I know that it is extremely expensive. Personally, I wouldn't choose to do it, but since you asked, I won't preach on how one should think about it before they get a tattoo, since it is obviously already there and you want to be rid of it. So I guess the question that only you can answer now is, would you rather have the tattoo or the scar?

Well, i think that you should just leave it, cause if you do get it removed, its just going to leave a nasty scar. You could always keep it, to remind your kids or grandkids, that if you get a tat, it wont look good after a lot of years, that might scare them from getting one, hope this helps you a little bit :o)'
