I am a primary teacher and I love it (most of the time). If you are interested in helping young children develop and can stand the constant "Mrs ......." whine then you'd be perfect. I know a lot of people think that doing it will be an easy option, especially if they can't decide what to do but it is hard work. The holidays are great, but you need them because by the end of term you are like a zombie. Oh, and if you do decide to go for it, know that teaching practise is much harder than the real thing! Good luck, I hope this helps.

Im a qualified secondary school teacher and Im now going back to do an msc at uni. Teaching is a very rewarding career but you have to realy want to do it. Its different for me as I taught mouthy horrible teenagers, some of which I grew to love and others I grew to hate. There are many pros and cons, at least with little ones they are not so mouthy and are on the whole a lot easier to control! I cn imagine teaching little ones very rewarding. Its all the stafroom politics that isnt always so great though. A lot of behind the scenes paperwork, staffroom gossip/bitching, piles of marking, parents evenings, trips to organise, tests to prepare and worst of all writing lesson plans. I dont think the workload for primary comes close to secondary, its different but if you love kids..then its definatly the career for you! Dont expect to get paid much though. Goodluck!

Only if you like working long hours for little rewards, like the human race in general including parents and like being responsible for a whole group of individual free-thinkers. I work with primary age children and I enjoy it however I am not a teacher I am a teaching assistant qualified to stand in for the teacher and cover supervise in her absence.

for one don't be uptight with kid and don't be scared if they act up they like to feel a new teacher out especially nursery kid
they are the best and the worst, my parent own a primary school i some times help out in the nursery with the two other teacher one is my sister and believe me it tough but really good once you get to know them so be patient and it'll go a long way
it's really rewarding to see how they grow and change from bad to good and how the ones that say your name for the first time and remeber you,any way it's just really rewarding

Lots of hard work, idiots for parents "My child would never lie!!"
My wife is a teacher and most nights will work from 7:30 until 10. She is a perfectionist but even so expect lots of work.

Yea my Auntie is a primary school teacher and she loves it. You must have patients, be able to show authority and not loose your cool when the little brats begin to do your head in! So if your able to do that then you should be fine. goodluck

Well if your not patient then dont choose it. You have to be able to teach to young children who are full of energy, some spoilt and other quiet. You have to be ready to do everything. They may feel sick, anything may happen. But if you love children and teaching then choose it and be patient and ready for all that may come.
