A choice of two.
1. Go to the National Museum up in the University area. Some great stuf here. I particularly like the fine statue of Poseidon.
2. Take the Metro to Piraeus and the fifty mnute hydrofoil to Aegina. A nice little island which has become almost a suburb of Athens.

Spend the day in Plaka. Plaka is the oldest section of Athens and there are many restaurants, jewelry stores tourist shops, and cafes here. It is considered the nicest neighborhood in central Athens and it is located under Acropolis. The Monastiraki flea market is also in Plaka and it is worth visiting.

You could visit the archaeological site and museum of Keramikos in the walking area of Ermou street (metro station: Thissio), eat some souvlaki (near the previous station) and walk back through Andrianou street to Monastiraki square (metro station: Monastiraki). Taste the coffee Greeks prefer (frappe/ÏÏαÏÎ) in a cafe near by. Check also the people walking up and down for shopping therapy in Ermou street from Monastiraki back to the central Syntagma square (metro station: Syntagma). For Athens Contemporary Art Map, check the:

If you like, take the train to Corintho and then take a cab to Ancient Corintho. It is not far from Athens only around 1hr and 15min. away. You will see an incredible site!! My mouth dropped open what was in front of me!! U will be talking about it for a long time to come!!
I recomend Ancient Corintho
