I am in the process of deciding which masters program to complete and I am wondering which would have the better job options when I'm done, a masters of environmental studies or a masters of public health. My BA is in Community Health Sciences.

In the environmental studies masters, I would study the built environment and its impact on health. The masters of public health would be similar too.

Which one would be more prestigious or look better when I'm done and looking for work?

In my opinion, the MPH will help you more. It will give you more options as to a career to pursue (more fields open to it). I know several physicians who have gone and completed their MPH. I think that is probably your best bet. Personally, I think the MPH is much more prestious.

Maybe it's 'cause I have a MPH, I think everyone else should get one, too.

But really, a MPH degree is much broader in scope than a MES degree. Many MPH holders work in environmental health. You can always get a REHS certification to supplement the MPH. MPH will also still allow you to work in health promo. MES might keep you out of some of the health promo jobs.

Environmental health in our health department is one bureau of public health, and so, I would think that MES would restrict (pigeon hole) you. Most of the directors are MPH.

i would hire you with either one. maybe the question should be what do you want to study more? your education is more than just three letters on a resume.
