I have a hard time talking loudly. Also whenever I sing along in the car to music for more than 2-3 songs, I end up getting a sore throat the next couple of days.
When I was in a high school play we did some exercises to help with voice projection but I can remember any of them. Please help?

The easiest way to find your diaphragm and be sure you are using it is to lie on your back on the floor and speak or sing - because of how your body is reclined in that position you can't not use your diaphragm. This is also a great way to locate it as it moves when you talk or breathe - put your hand on it and then stand up - you will know where it is and then can focus your mind on breathing from there. The more you exercise it the easier it becomes and within a month you will speak or sing from it without thinking.

How To Speak From Diaphragm

Singing is all about controlling your breathing. Three things singing from the diaphragm (the bottom of your abs), not from your throat, strengthening those abs, and little known technique that both helps you control your breathing. Its going to sound weird but it works. Try speaking while your holding your breath, as if you smoking one of those "funny" cigarettes. When you've figured that out, practice the vowels. Right now, consonants should be replaced with other consonants in order to achieve minimum breath loss. The whole point of this is to re-train your voice so you start using the right muscles and stop putting all the strain on your throat, which is why so many wannabes become hoarse after two/three songs. You know you re doing right when you can feel a kinda buzzing sensation in the throat. I know I know, just try it. Oh consonants: Z for S, G for C/K (gick not kick and V for F. The former vowels allow too much air to be releassed. Once you've mastered this then you can start going back to the traditional consonant applications but not before. Example, "Amazing graze, how zweet the zound, that zaved a wretgh lige me." Further, instead of pronouncing e (as in eel) pronounce e always as if you were saying "get." It allows for more powerful delivery. That's what all this is about, a more powerful voice. Once youve commanded this then you can pay more attention to dynamics and such. One last thing get a belt and while you are expanding your rib cage as much as you can apply the belt around your rib cage just snug enough so that if you relax the belt will fall to your waist. Wear under your shirt and try to keep it up as long as you can. This will expand your rib cage allowing for greater lung capacity and breath control.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/6Yy5T

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

The diaphragm is a large muscle between your abdomen and your lungs. Singers and musicians use this muscle to control breathing while performing. The best way to feel the muscle in action is to place your hand on you stomach and; as you exhale, push your hand away with your abdominal muscles. You can even push back with your hand to really get the idea of the control this muscle can have. Now, sing a smooth, steady tone as you do this. While pushing with the diaphragm and your hand you can see hoe this technique strengthen you voice while not being harsh on your vocal cords.
When you sing or speak, focus on the producing the sounds/tones from the diaphragmatic area and not your throat. Good luck!

Wow... I can't remember how to speak or sing with my nose actually :D

Hold your nose shut and try to speak without sounding like a drunken trumbone.

Take a very deep breath and try to envision your breath bouncing off of the top of your throat and out your mouth as you let it out in a loud AHH.

There are thousands more suggestions, but most of the ones I know are on here already :D
