To put it in simple words. An equation where a set of variables (or behaviors or appropiately called independent variables) can be put in a function to give the estimate of a characteristic (also called dependant variables) can be termed as a model.
In symbols:
Y = f(X) [ X = {X1,X2,X3...Xn} ]
Now if we know the function f(.) and teh values of X's, we can easily calcualte the value of Y.
Depending on the type of the function used, we can subdivide the model as linear, quadratic, exponential, discrete et al.

A working model in maths means that your model will be a detachable one. You can explain it to someone by joining the pieces or by removing them.

Working models and mathematics have one common feature, i.e. they hoth have different and attractive figures.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
