i am doing a study on the drug which is used to induce abortion. but my question is what are some of the factors that may cause the drug to fail for that purpose? how much tablets have been known to be taken to induce abortion after the third month?

Try looking for RU 486, Mifegyn, Mifeprex, and Misoprostol (also known as Cytotec, Arthrotec, Oxaprost , Cyprostol, Mibetec or Misotrol)

Cytotec is not the same drug as RU-486 (mifepristone), although they are sometimes used in conjunction. RU-486 works against the hormone progesterone, causing the lining of the womb to break down and cutting off nourishment to the unborn child. The child starves to death inside her mother's womb. A second chemical, Cytotec (misoprostol) is used to open the cervix and to induce contractions to push the dead baby out of the womb. In later abortions, sometimes Cytotec is used alone to cause a woman to go into early labor. The child may die during the trauma of labor, but sometimes the child is born alive and later dies of neglect. For more information, see:
