Barrel Hair or Darrel Hair?
i know only of Darrel Hair controversy, an british aussie cricket umpire, who does not shy from showing his (un)feelings to the players from subcontinent.
when muralidharan(from sri lanka) was bowling in australia, he was called no-ball by darrell hair 9 times.
when sachin tendulkar(from india) was batting in australia, he tried to duck to a bouncer. but the ball kept low and stuck him on the shoulder,he was gone out LBW, by darrell hair.
recently, pakistan was bowling against england.darrell hair found (felt)that the ball was tempered with, and gave england 5 runs. and changed the ball . pakistan team didn't take it well and decided to not to come after tea, for sometime.. as a show of protest. umpires were on the field, the batting team on the field, but no sign of fielders.they waited...waited and waited.but of no use.so darrell hair went back to dressing rooms and asked the pakistani captain inzimam-ul-haq, are you coming to play or not? so inzi said"why was the ball changed?", but umpire didn't reply and went out. after sometime he removed the bails of the stumps, a sign that the game was over and the english team has won on account of forfeital by pakistani team.the game was officially over. after some time pakistan team walks out and waits for the umpires and the batsmen, but the match was over.
this is the version i know about darrell hair.
i don't know whether he really hates the people from sub-continent .but from what i follow, he does everything according the realm of the rules.
