No real offense but questions like this always baffle me.
Any answers here will neither be "right" nor "wrong" but personal opinions.
Certainly another thing that causes me to wonder, is why more people don't do a general WWW search, using keywords in their browser?????
You should already have established THINGS or ideas that relate to what YOU like. Test those in your own spaces. What works for me, or others here, may not work at all, for you.
You have to live in "it" Create it to be your comfort zone, using thoughts and items you most feel comfortable living with. That can be mild to wild, Static or animated, classy or hodge podge,,,it's all determined by what you feel OK with, and whether or not you're truly trying to impress others with your designs for life.

You should decide on a style and color scheme, first. You want it to flow through your house, but not look the same in every room. Pick 4-5 colors you like that go together well. Stick with 2-3 saturated colors for accents and neutrals for most walls and large pieces of furniture.
I think HGTV.com has a great variety of ideas you can check out.
Have fun!

A fun way to get ideas is to go view model homes! They usually hire designers to do them so they are pretty good. This way you can see the whole picture at once. You can probably sneak a digital camera, the selling agents don't walk with you, if you want reminders.

Many magazines (i.e. Better Homes and Gardens) have websites that offer lots of ideas. Google 'decorating ideas' and you'll likely find lots of sites to help you.
