If you have a yahoo address there is a series of buttons along the top of the inbox with DELETE, SPAM, MARK AS etc etc, Highlight or tick the box at the side of the message and click on the spam button.
Hotmail works in a similar way, but like someone else has said most of these spam emailers are from fake addresses which use symbols and numbers and gobbledegook words and its very difficult to stop these from coming in as the emailer only has to change a few letters or symbols to carry on sending you their rubbish.
To set your spam filters up you can also look in your mail options section of your email. Some servers have an area where you can select from the main computer tool bar on view button, scroll down to block sender and apply. But be aware of my last statement...its difficult to eliminate all spam.
Hope this makes sense and good luck.

Right click the message and there should be an option to mark it as Spam. You blocking the sender probably won't do much good because most Spam is sent from fake email addresses anyway.

If you use the options button, you can block the sender, and then you won't get any more e mails from that address. Probably won't make a bit of difference but you can only try.

Most email sites have a SPAM or JUNK folder - if the site does not recognise it as SPAM or JUNK, you should be able to select the message and MARK it as SPAM - Yahoo is very good for this, as most SPAM messages it recognises already. Very few get through.
