i am a stage 1 breast cancer patient also known as IN SITU,im scared that it might have an effect on my baby how true is that when they say that its possible that my unborn child will be a mongoloid?pls help me

it's risky but if you really want to have a baby and the doctor tells you that it is ok, do it, no matter what you would love that child right? if no, don't do it.

41 is more risky but not considered too old or inadvisable anymore. The cancer treatment could be more dangerous than your age. You can have the baby checked for deformities by amniocentesis (spelling?) in time to abort. It's a pretty expensive test. Of, course the decision to abort even a deformed baby can be very traumatic. Make sure you have some one close to support you no matter what you decide. Keep in mind that 1 out of 100 babies have some type of deformity so it is a natural occurance and you should bear no stigma or responsibility if it happens. Young, perfectly healthy mothers also sometimes have deformed babies.
My son's mother was 44 and he is just as abnormal as the other teenagers.

Well, I was born when my mom was the same age as you were and i'm fine. But there are risks.
I'm not sure on how cancer can effect pregnancy. But when i was born my mother was the same age. As you know the older you get the harder it is to have a baby(alittle more risky). But Both my brother and I were born when my mom was in her 40's and we are fine. The best way to know is to talk to your onocologist and doctor. If you can't have a baby you can always adopt too . That way you help a child without a home.=)

Yes...you have a 1 in 11 chance to have a baby with Down Syndrome....severe cerebal palsy or some other horrific disease
My mom had my brother at 41 and she was lucky not to be that 1 out of 11 but its a highhhhhhhh risk.

I don't want to scare you, but it is a fact that after 30 years of age, the chances of having a baby with the Down syndrom rises exponentially. Also, don't you think it's a little irresponsible to have a baby while you have a disease that might kill you? Even if it doesn't have an effect on the baby, which it might (especially any kind of treatment will definitely have an effect), if you die, your baby will grow up without a mother.

It would depend on whether you are healthy or not. There may be some complications but less if you are in tip top shape. My sister 48 has a 2 year old and both mom and daughter are doing great. If you have children already then it should be a smoother transition, Good luck. If it is a Boy, name it Richard lol

That is totally wrong! As long as you are healthy it presents no more of a problem than an 18yr old having a child. It is genetics and what you do during your pregnancy that affects the baby. As long as you take your prenatal vitamins and eat healthy I don't think you will have any problems. My granmother had a child at 42 and at 45 fifty years ago and both were healthy.

As we get closer to menopause, because of the hormone fluctuations, we can be more fertile than when we were in our 30's. So yes, you can become pregnant. As for risks, well, yes of course there are more risks of mongoloid, etc. that is a proven fact. But many people have healthy babies at your age, it's all undetermined.

i'm sorry about yr cancer but listen to this i'm younger then you're lost both of my tubes due to ectopic pregnancies had ivf and 4 days ago my test came back neg i'm devasted i wish god would've gave me one even if it was a mongoloid baby i would been bless.yr baby it's fine think positive,if not love your baby any way because somewhere in the world there's is al ot of people that would love to have a babymongoloid or not please don't kill yr baby there's a reason for everything.pls love yr baby may god bless you both
