Yes Satanism is real. It isn't goth, and it surely isn't devil worship. It's the idea of giving into your worldly and bodily desires. But, just like Christianity and Islam, there are extreamists that don't understand or have a different perspective on Anoton Lavey's writing and end up falling into the Gothic or Devil worship route. This is however not Satanism. If you want more information there is something called the "Satanic Bible" by the author I mentioned above, Anton Lavey. I suggest reading the book and getting some understanding of Satanism before "Fighting" something you really don't understand. I myself am not a Satanist just from the mear fact it doesn't suit my personality. But fighting something you don't understand just because someone told you it's bad, is down right silly. True Satanist repect and gain understandings of other people and their religions, they are sometimes open with other religions flaws, but it isn't really something to "fight" as Satanist aren't really violent.

this may sound odd but not all satanists are evil...the satanic bible discourages sacrifice and murder...the 11 satanic rules of the earth are....
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop.
some of these are a little wierd but not evil(i'm not a satanist, i'm an athiest)....and you can't really fight satanism, freedom of religion, they can believe/worship anyone they choose

1. Satanism is "real" in the sense superstiton is a real thing.
2. Some are obvious, and look the part, some don't.
3. Fight ignorance with truth. LaVey was a bankrupt lying, wife beating pimp. The more people realize this, the sooner it will die out...just like spiritism of the 19th century.

It is too real. How can you identify one? How can you fight one? You don't and you can't.
You are not fighting Satanists. You have to fight the cause. Believe. In what you have to.

If you're talking about devil worship, that's mostly misfit teenagers and social outcasts trying to get a rise out of others. And in the movies.
There is a real church of satan, and probably others as well, although the former doesn't worship the devil.
Why do you want to fight them? I don't think that's a good idea. If you look at the creed of the COS, they will attack viciously if provoked. So why do it?
Just google church of satan and it will take you to their website.

It is real - in your dreams. Too many people have been murdered as a sacrifice to this particular myth. Consider one instance of 25 murdered at Salem by evil and bigoted people (Christians). Satan exists but only in the recesses of the Human mind and is manifested in people who claim to be 'saved' and religious.
