there are phones which can house 2 sim cards but the only thing is that they wont work simultaneously..u wud have to restart ur phone in order to choose ur sim service during the phone startup..these phones were made by a chinese company called SED..but was shut down coz according to the international mobile laws they were illegal..this was for the fact that while u use the phone ur phones unique number along with the sim number are used by the service providers for record keeping purposes..so using different sims on the same phone aroused suspicion..and eventually the production was banned..now a days a new prototype is being built which can house 2 sims and still be legal..its made by an american company(unknown)..
using a universal adapter is not at all recommended as the cases of sim cloning are on the rise and adapters only give rise to it as they store some information regarding the sim..apart from the security flaws..

I am also eagerly waiting to see the reply because that would be of immense use to people like me who carry one personal cell and one official cell. Then all I need is only one cell phone with 2 sim cards and the phone indicating from which sim the call has come.

You can buy universal dual SIM adapter then you can put 2 SIM cards in your phone. You can use both by switching from one to the other. Try searching for these on eBay.
