Obviously, the monitor may be close ot the end of its life. However, did you change any settings? Sometimes, an incompatible setting on your monitor, such as a refresh rate that cannot be supported will produce unusual sounds. This is usually followed by display problems. So, if you did not change anything, my suggestion is to start looking for a new monitor. I agree with many of the other answers which recommend an LCD variety monitor; these produce brilliant colors and draw less power than the standard CRT monitors (not to mention the LCDs take up much less space on your desk).
A new LCD will start at only $200 (for a 17-inch variety).
The cost of repairing a monitor cannot be justified; purchasing a new one is the best value.
Good luck!

ok i've got had this undertaking in the previous! It grew to become out to be my RAM. For some reason, the slot wherein I placed a stick became no longer working and as quickly as I grew to become on the laptop, it merely made a extreme pitched ringing sound. So greater appropriate examine your RAM. If no longer, then the PSU.

Dust is in the fan. Clean the fan with an air can. Just shoot air in the fan area.
