Contact the Society of Actuaries (Life) or Casualty Actuarial Society (Properly/Casualty Insurance)

Also The College of Insurance in NYC

I'm currently an actuary and took math/ comp science in college (with some economics classes). Below is a link to the Society of Actuaries site, which has a bunch of exam info there. The exams tend to be very rough... even the smart people that work around me study hundreds of hours for each exam! Exams are offered in May and November, although that's starting to change as they're offering online courses and different series of exams. The good news is if you can get in with a good company they'll often give you like 100 hours of paid time to just study and they'll pay for your books and such (which can be hundreds of dollars themselves, let alone the exam fee). The bad news is they'll expect you to pass exams pretty quickly, and the exams are often curved so about 60% of the takers fail.

I also have a link to ACTEX which makes study materials for the exams if you're interested.

A long time ago in a continent far, far away I was in a similar predicament to you so I enrolled. Passed the first 3 exams. You have to pass 10 exams to graduate. The exams are very difficult and you need to love mathematical statistics. The Institute of Actuaries (IOA) in London is the best place to obtain information. Today universities offer actuarial degrees but they are not nearly as respected as a qualification from IOA.
