Here are a few tips...
1] Do not guess until you have progressed to the tough and diabolical puzzles. Use logic like ‘if a 1 is in this box, will it go in this column?’ or ‘if a 9 is already in this row, can a 9 go in this square?’. Look at each of the boxes(3x3 squares) and see which squares are empty, at the same time checking that square’s column and row for a missing number. This is useful only in easy sudokus.
2] There are many other strategies like looking for the lone number, finding twins and triplets which are very helpful as well as easy. I can elaborate blah.. blah.. but you need to look at practical examples to quickly understand.

First check the 1st column(horizontal) and see which no. it does not have. Then check the same line where there the same no. can lie .Check all the columns like this and most boxes will be easily filled. Do the same for the Rows(Vertical). If u do it correct then u will succeed.

Think analytically, I agree with the answerer above, it helps to be good at remembering numbers. My personal idiosyncrasy is mumbling the numbers out loud, this helps me sort them out. Keep practising, you will develop an 'eye' for where the numbers should be placed.
