Edit it by going to Paint > Start>All Programs>Accesories>Paint and then go to file>save as> and choose your extension.

Additional information is required in order to answer your question. The application you're using, the means by which you're finding and saving the image also make a difference.

For example, downloading images you found in image searches in Yahoo and Google work differently. For some reason, Yahoo image search seems to allow only downloading as a bitmap, while Google image search allows jpg.

I have done the same thing before, if you save it as a bitmap, open it and wait a second or two and it will start playing

What program are you using? MSPaint in WinXP can save a various file types. You can convert the BMP to other formats with another program though.

You need to save it as all files and append .jpg or .gig to the file name.
