i am havin a 14 year old female japanese exchagne student to stay tonite 4 a week. i no she can speak english and i know this may sound like a silly question but i dont want any awkward silences- any ideas to make conversations with her?!?!? no stupid answers please!!! i'm 14 female too. is there culture very diferent from here??? any help would be appreciated xxx

If she is an exchange student, she is there to learn english, so let her do the talking, and the asking, and talk slowly back to her. Dont be scared of "awkward silences". silence is just a good time to collect your thoughts.

check up on her culture and make her comfortable. have some girl talk with her, take her out to see some sights.

try music or t.v. she is your age and she probably has similar interest. relax and make a new friend. she is probably feeling the same way you are. good luck and have fun...
