Its not the same as an abortion...they are just cleaning out the est of the fetus. No it doesn't reduce your chanced of getting pregnant later on. It can actually increase your chances because your uterus has been cleaned out of old tissue, and is now ready for another pregnancy. When I had a d&c my Dr said that I would be pregnant again quickly...I was within 3 months. It doesn't really hurt...you get some period like cramps for a whil afterwards.

No hun its not like having an abortion. I had to have one last year after I had a miscarrage. You are a little sore for a couple of days, but nothing that is too unbearable. They gave me some painkillers for it. And no it doesn't reduce your chances of getting pregnant. I was scared about that too, but now i am pregnant again :)

a D&C is only like an abortion if you actually have a viable fetus growing in your uterus. Usually, it is used for women who have had a miscarriage or have a non-viable fetus (i.e. already dead- sorry to be blunt). Some women have them just to set right many months/years of feminine problems. One typically does not lead to damaging scarring. Women who have multiple D&C's may have difficulty getting pregnant due to the scars.

Well, its like saying 'is blowing up an old building murder?'. Its only murder if there is someone inside the building.

A d&c cleans out your uterus. Its only an abortion of there's a living baby inside. (though incidentally, its no longer a particularly common method).

It shouldn't reduce your chances of getting pregnant assuming it goes smoothly. Not having the procedure done is more likely to cause you troubles.

A d&c after a miscarriage is to get rid of the dead tissue so you don't get an infection. It does hurt, and it MIGHT reduce your chances of getting pregnant, it involves scraping out the uterine lining & contents, so there is a possibility of scar tissue.
