Sperm is very sensitive to many things...temperature, pH, moisture...it's difficult (if not impossible) to say exactly how long it can survive. In a lab, it can survive outside the body up to 72 hours (but this is under controlled conditions in petri dishes). Inside the vagina, sperm can live 3-5 days.But once it's dried, the sperm die.

They don't all die and some (the strong ones) can still swim up the vagina if the sperm has touched the vagina entrance.

Now if I was a woman and I ejaculated semen I could make my self pregnant (sorry but you asked for this) Sperm can stay alive up to 48hours in warm moist surrounding and in some cases longer.
