A 90 day period is pretty common in America. This allows for a "cooling off" period, where both parties can reconcile and rejoin without having to remarry all over. Consider yourself lucky. There are a couple of states that require up to six months.

Several states require 6 months from filing to actual granting. This is normal. It provides for all "contingencies" in the negotiations to be completed.
