Do Europeans spend a week in USA for example, and say they have seen America? I bet a lot do. Both Europe and North America are big places. There is no way that either can be seen in just one week. Yes, it's possible to touch on them and get an idea, but the cultures are so diverse across each individual continent that it would be impossible to do. Maybe these Asian and American tourists you talk about say they have 'been' rather than 'seen'. I can say I have been to America, but in 11 days and staying in only three different places, I still have so much to discover.

For the same reason that people from other countries come to america and ask to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Sears Tower, and Broadway.
You don't have a sense of how large and rich the culture is if you've never been there.
The other issue is time and money. People want to go to Europe and see as much as they can, but they only have so much money and time.

I'm not sure that they do think that, but given that many Americans only get two weeks holiday a year, what are they to do. Either thay just give up and never see it, or do the best they can and see it very quickly, better than not at all.
I'm off to California this Autumn, I've only got three weeks so I'm not going to see much, many Californians would tell me that you need at least two months to see everything, does this mean I should not go??

I don't know and where do you get this information from? Some pseudo fact you just pulled out of thin air?
Besides USA is bigger than Europe yet a lot of european tourists don't spend any more or less time in the USA on average than americans or asians spend in Europe.
I think your claim is just a load of codswallop, go get some sleep.
And anyway if an american or an asian wanted to go to London, Paris, Berlin, Prague, Madrid, Rome, Vienna all in one week what the heck has it got to do with you?
Maybe this is just European jealousy raising it's ugly head. Thank Goodness I live in England that don't want to be in Europe!

People come to places in the US and stay just long enough to say they have been there. IMHO, very foolish.
I was at Bryce Canyon some time ago, could have stayed for a month, and heard some stupid tourist say, "We've been here half an hour. Let's go do Zion."

Because it looks so small on the map, they forget that it has such a high density of historically relavant places and cultrally unique states.
Also why can't american tourists get the hang of cueing, is it really that difficult!!

I live in Germany (but i am English). It just depends what you want to see and do in that particular week. For instance, back in February, me and my hasband drove down to the south of Germany (we were living in Holland at the time) and we went through 8 countries in 2 days. I t just depends wether you want to say you've been there or you actually want to learn the history of the place.

Most likely they have a weeks time to see Europe and hope to take in all they can in the allotted time of their vacation.

because one week is all the time they have or all they have the money for. They want to see the most important sites to them (their opinion)
At least they are able to follow their dream of going to Europe even if it is for such a short amount of time.
