Cliched but true -
It's all about the money honey.
Kinda hard to make billions of dollars if people can grow it in their own backyard, right?
That's all, that's all.
Btw, marijuana is LESS addictive than ciggies.. I testify to that.

I agree that the laws are all messed up when it comes to this. Alcohol has a far greater potential to wreck lives than marijuana. Though both used in moderation are fine.
The government has got it's self into a bit of a mess though. It is far to late to ban alcohol (look at the old dry laws, that was a real mess), not to mention the fact that the the government gains a lot out of the alcohol tax.
The government would be unlikely to legalize anything they don't stand to gain from, and legalized and taxed pot would be far to hard to regulate, so they just keep the laws the way they are. Pity really.

Drugs are a huge money making business for our government that's why. Look at all of the laws against smoking cigarettes right now. I wouldn't be surprised that they become illegal in the next 25 years! After that I'd bet alcohol could be next. I agree that marijuana is much better than alcohol. It has medicinal as well as spiritual purposes. But as long as it makes them money they wont legalize it

mary jane is legal is some states in australia, its ok to grow no more than two plants, to posess no more than is acceptable for personal use etc, has been this way for many years
these states dont show any higher crime/domestic violence rates than any other
I think that within the next 10yrs it will become legal in most states
I have sat in the local courts and watched young people up on charges of one joint etc, it really does seem like a revenue generating scheme, no offer or suggestion of rehabilitation, just fines.
In the same sessions I have seen many cases of violence whilst under the influence of alcohol!
the deciding factor? its a lot harder to make alcohol at home than it is to grow mary jane so therefore mary jane is a lot harder to tax.

Who say it kills more people? maybe you count car accidents in those that the drivers were drunk, but they are easier of consisting in a statistic for that the effects of the alcohol are more evident, however it's a shame that we require blood tests to demonstrate the presence of drugs in the organism of those who cause these accidents too, if it was different you would realize that both drugs kill a similar number of people every year.

Marijuana kills ur brains cells and makes u impotent, poor memory, etc... alcohol is worse (liver, etc), if u drink too much. Ur right the laws r really dumb, who ever made that law might have been a smokker or an alcohol addict himself
