If I had to guess, I'd think it had to do with some girl (she's always portrayed as the victim) who's going to leave a guy who she both loves and dislikes. And what she's breaking free from may well be the thought of love, the crazy affection you get in your mind for someone where you can't stop thinking about your loved one, and she doesn't want to be "enslaved" by this feeling, even though she loves him.
