The Republicans were waitng for something positve to spin and it has been a long hot summer for them. I think both parties are watching the polls like vultures, they are both aware that many voters think neither party is brilliant at this stage of the game. It would be great if we would see someone who could capture the whole country's imagination. Right now that candidate is nowhere in sight. The elections of 2006 are going to be a major turning point regardless of who wins the house and the senate. We are walking the razor's edge for better or for worse.

Ultimately the voters will have the final say.
Should be interesting.
Unfortunately for many of you, the Republicans have taken their cue form the Dems and have moved far from the center. The voters have noticed and are disappointed in both parties. But since the Republicans are in control at the moment I believe the public will take out their frustrations on the Republicans.
The RNC has waited for ANY positive news that they could use in their favor.
The answer to your last question - maybe. You know how fickle the American voters are

Unfortunately, the Democrats are still in need of a cranium rectum inversion. They are not offering any solutions for the voters. They are only pointing out what we already know is wrong. The Republicans need only distance themselves from Bush during the November elections to win.
In order for the Democrats to win, they must change their stance on abortion, forget the gay rights issues, kick all the communists out of the party, and put a muzzle on John Kerry.
Which scenario is more likely to happen?

The DNC has spent almost 6 years on their spin campaign of Hate & Lies.
The Republicans think that the American people are too intelligent to belive the DNC lies.
They're wrong. The people have fell for Democrat lies in the past, and may again.
Good Question!

I think the Republicans are unsure as to the direction to take. The 'bash anything Republican' and 'All war is bad war' lib movement has been gaining strength in certain areas. I think the Republican leadership is stumbling as to how to win voters, without alienating the right course of action and without alienating the current administration.
I think the answer is simple myself. You need to focus on the 3 areas of major importance, and stick to your guns. If you lose, you lose, so be it. The radical uberlibs will falter with their inane agenda anyway.
Those 3 areas are:
1) We have to stay the course in Iraq until Iraq is in a better place to govern and protect themselves. No caving in on finishing the job, no matter how much anti-war rhetoric is spewed.
2) Border control. It is something that the majority of voters on both sides want. Stick to it without showing one ounce of trepidation. Call out the Democratic leadership on why they will not support this effort.
3) Slow steady budget growth. Show that slow steady growth, like we have currently, is the right way to do things. Remind how the false booms, not based on production within the economy, will lead to the inevitable crashes. Remind them of what happened because of the false boom of the Clinton economic policies. Show the voters why slow steady growth is the key. Show the voters that there is a plan, now that the economy is in the right direction, that spending can and will be cut, starting with many unnecessary programs within the federal budget.
Stick to those strong basic points, and I think some voters can be swayed back. And I can honestly say that if they lose while sticking to those guns, you can't be disappointed.

The Republicans didn't just start campaigning. You should really try, and stay informed before you speak.

Republican campaign is based on appealing to the most basic emotional instincts. This can only be accomplished over the short term because it is an energy draining process that can only be sustained for short periods before voters either see through it or grow tired of the rhetoric and propaganda. It is effective the same way yelling fire in a crowded theater is effective and about as honorable.

The only thing the republicans are more frightened of than terrorists are democrats. They've been afraid to come out and fight. They're huddled in their bunkers hoping for an October surprise to save them.
