I live in Northern KY,(Boone Co), and saw an average of 1 turtle every two weeks. It is now Sept., and I haven't seen a turtle for at least a month.

Theyre probably going into hibernation right about now. They go into hibernation every winter.

If the weather has been hot, they've been hiding in the cooler water. If the weather is cooling off, they are moving towards hbernation sites.

They also might be moving around looking for new territories, etc.

they've been trying to stay cool with all the heat we've had this summer (and lack of rain) it's not time to hibernate yet
