People elect the Government. That is Democracy. No king or military ruler to control the Government.

the democracy in India is that we get to choose our own government,even though we donot like the choices given to us (i.e the parties among whom the choice is to be made).the democracy in India is our right to protest against a policy that has been taken against our will,though it is a different thing that the protest is ignored and still that policy is taken up.
