Thriiller: The Silence of the Lambs, because I love the interaction between Lecter and Starling.

Suspense: I've never read any of those. My favorite suspense novel is Dean Koontz's Intensity.

Horror: If those are my only options, The Shining. I love books with untrustworthy narrators.

Comedy: Never read any of your choices. Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and Connie Willis have written my favorite comedic books.

Romantic: My favorite romance novel, hands down, is Bittersweet by Nevada Barr. Jane Austen is overrated.

Although I have read 100's if not 1000's of books in my 24 years, I have only read one on your list Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. I actually love this book. I like that even though it's a period in which women were not supposed to think beyond who to marry, Jane Austin wrote a book that at it's core still holds true today. People judge based on money, gender and gossip everyday. And this book points out that you might be passing on the best thing in your life based on those prejudices.

The Silence of The Lambs - still try to discover the hidden message in the writers words. The Shining - made me thin k thet mind is a scary place to live especially if you choose to live there alone. Pride and Prejudice - a woman who chose to love confronting herself the human lack of understanding and the world's narrowness when coming to woman's liberty.

Of all the list, the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon was my favorite. I usually read murder/mystery books. Tess Gertison is my favorite of the books you've listed in that catagory. I don't really like Jeffrey Deaver. His work doesn't appeal to me.

Of your list, The Shining by Stephen King, although I like The Stand better. I love his characters....right away you feel like they are people you have known all your life, and by the end of the story, you're sorry to see them go and wish the book went on and on......

War of the Worlds by HG Wells.

He is an all-time fav of mine. I have read his other Sci-Fi books as well. His classic Sci-Fi is so much better rated than all the new junk out there now. (In my personal opinion.)

But I will tell you my FAVORITE book, even though it is not on your list.

Watership Down by Richard Adams. (Look it up!) I've read it multiple times, to the point it is falling apart.
