All our software, drawing, tech support etc. gets sent to india b/c they will do that work for cheap. Americans have plenty of knowledge thats why we send that stuff over there so that we don't need to waste time and money on it.

If an american firm were to offer these services it would cost us sometimes double what we pay the india corporations. And what is even funnier is that many of the indian companies that are contracted are owned by americans. So I guess we are the smarter ones in the end!!

I'd have to agree with everyone else. Outsourcing occurs because corporations exist to make profit. How can you widen profit margin without bettering your product, investing capitol into new product, etc? Why, you find people that will do the same work for less. And since the cost of living overseas happens to be less than the US at the moment, they ship the work over there. Trust me, most rank and file Americans don't like it terribly much (since we're losing jobs) ... but it doesn't mean that we hate the folks that are taking the jobs. That would be misplacing anger.

Any rate, yes, we have the capability to do the work. We wrote the software, we tested the software, but it just costs too much to operate Help Desk facilities in the US. Then again, as goes, they'll be shipping coding operations overseas any moment now.

the major majority does this to save money, i cancel a credit card application, cause the fellow was able to only understand what he was suppose to say (Indian). i was so irritated that i finally got a hold of someone with some sense & canceled my application. this really irritates me .america needs to take care of its self! i have seen too many jobs lost for lower wages in other countries.the ones who want MORE MONEY do this .not our lower mentality ,or lack of hard work ethic.it`s GREED. that`s why in amercia " the rich grt richer & the poor get poorer"

Overseas workers can work cheaper. A lower cost of living and different living standards allow overseas workers to be happy doing a job for $3. that because of our cost of living, wouldn't work at twice that.
