After watching YAnswers for a while I decided to post my first question on here in which seems to be the most relavent in MY eyes...

Straight people bashing homosexuals - homosexuals bashing straight people

Christians preaching to all other religion - all other religions bashing christians

Meat eaters ALWAYS harping on vegetarians/vegans - Vegetarians/vegans ALWAYS harping on meat eaters

Some ignorant people still going on about white supremacy over other races - This in turn causing friction between colour

Red Sox fans bashing Yankee fans - Yankee fans bashing the Sox (ok, maybe not as bad as the others, but it is still there ;)

It seems to me when it comes to culture, religion, society, most people have to be ignorant for the sake of being ignorant. I know people have the right to their own opinion and that makes freedom of speech beautiful. But if people know it is going belittle another aspect of society, why do it... Why can't we all just get along??

Simple, people fear what they do not understand and there for have to belittle others in order to feel more certain about their chosen path.

Some people need constant reassurance that what they do or follow is the only 'correct' way... This leads to fear of the misunderstood and friction in every possible direction.

ps~~ Go SOX!!

Well said. I think this site is about 10% thoughtful, intelligent people and the rest is divided up between pompous jerks and ignorant fools - with a big dose of intolerance thrown in. I think because of the relative anonymity fo the site, plus the fact that you can't really take anybody to task for their answers, people feel they can say anything they want. Sad really... but keep looking, because every once in a while you'll find a well thought out question or answer.

Part of it is because probably 80% of these yahooers are naive high schoolers or middle schoolers.

Sometimes the bashing gets really bad. I think that it's their way of making themselves feel better.

I guarantee you that this answer will have a thumbs down within an hour of being posted, just because someone wants to disagree with me for the sheer sake of dissagreement.

Im not really sure that humans can ever get along. Children are being raised to have no acceptance of other lifestyles, and onces that is engraved into your personna, Im afraid you can never really change.

Its interesting to note some people to comment on other peoples answers, the silent majority like yourself who want people to get along, maybe at last are getting their voices heard. Good bad or indifferent, yahoo is bring a wide variety of people together to discuss issues, with out those who are louder, being able to talk over them. In amongst the serious discussion, are sometimes rude or funny remarks, but it keeps people comming back. Talking is the best way of resolving and understanding other peoples views... don't take offence, just mention the offenders in your answers!

There are so so many people out there who are insecure about who they are that they feel that the only way to feel superior is to put others down.

Then there are those who hide behind the safety of their annonymity and get some sort of sick pleasure in getting people all upset. What's the worst that can happen to them? they get 'yelled' at or reported for abuse. Nothing, if you compare that to how they would be dealt with in the real world.

You can't get along with the gallactically stupid, and those who are insensitive, rude and prejudicial are just that. Ignore them.
