Yesterday was my frist day using my prescription contacts. I ordered it in the brown freshlook colorblends. When i first put it in it was very comfortable. It stayed that way for about 10 hours until the last few hours which was very painful. I took my contacts out and my left eye was hurting so bad. If I lift my eye there is a part under there that looks really sore with long red small veins. has anyone experienced this before with the first use of there contacts. Keep in mind that I need them to see. Are my eyes strained or did I lieave them in a little too long. Please help!

well...on the first day you are not supposed to wear them for 10 hours....you should have worn them for 5 hours the first day and added 1 hour each day after that. get some refresh drop and use them several times a day. also, you may experience dry eyes if you look at a computer screen all day, try the drops and good luck

I think you left them in too long. I wear contacts and I find the monthly disposables from Specsavers very good. When I used to wear the old ones that you used all the time, I used to get quite itchy eyes. This has been solved with the disposables as you get a new pair each month. When you first start to use them, you need to wear them for just a few hours at a time while you get used to them. If you overwear and end up with sore eyes, you need to give them a rest and wear specs for a day or so. You can increase the hours you wear your lenses as you get more used to them. Probably worth having a word with your optician (a phone call would probably do), explaining what's happened and get their advice. I think 10 - 12 hours is the maximum you should be wearing lenses per day anyway. They actually stop oxygen reaching the eyeball so you need a few hours a day without the lenses in for good eye health.

It's possible that you left them in too long and they became real dry. That happened to me. I just went back to my doctor and he gave me some samples of an eye drop to use for a few days then put my contacts back in. If you've been wearing glasses just go back to using your glasses for a few days, if you don't have glasses then I'd really talk to my eye care professional.

if you are new to wearing contact lenses, i suggest keeping it to 6 - 8 hours daily usage. i think you had them on for too long.

please also check your lenses to see if they have torn. sometimes the tear is almost unnoticable.

i also suggest getting some disposable eye drops - i found them very useful during the first year i had my lenses. they soothe your eyes when its really painful.
