For vine ripening (The fullest flavor) you'll just have to wait. If you're getting close to frost time in your area, you can pick all the green ones which are about mature size and layer them in a cardboard box with newspaper between the layers. This is for really slow ripening. You maight have tomatoes looking good until Christmas.
For quicker ripening, the windowsill method works. However, if the tomatoes aren't of mature size, they'll tend to ripen harder and drier than they would if you left them on the vine as long as possible.

leave them on the vine as long as possible. If you're going to get hit by a frost, pull the entire plant - root and all and put the whole thing between layers of newspaper. They will continue to "ripen on the vine" this way. After the plant is spent use the windowsill method for the runts. You lose the plant but the frost would have killed it anyway and you would have pulled the plant after wards.

don't know where you have them planted but they should be ripening soon.. If they don't pick the green ones wrap them in a piece of news paper and they will ripen off the vine.. i pick all of mine before i pull up the plants and bring them in so they don't freeze and they will ripen in the house..
that way you are sure to have some nice ripe tomatoes for quiet some time..
some people sprinkle epsom salt around the plant .. helps with growth don't know if it helps with ripening..
good luck and don't let your green ones rot on vine.. they will ripen in house..

You can take a spade and cut the roots on your tomato plant by inserting the spade into the ground about 6 inches or so away from the plant , but you also run the possibility of killing the plant.

You can take foil and put it around the base of your plants. And the sun will reflect off the foil and give your tomatoes the extra sunlight that they need

Put them in a paper bag or cardboard box if you pick them turn them at least once a day. If you have a banana they both will ripen together.

If they're totally hard and green, leave them on vne awhile longer. If they're beginning to ripen, pick them and place on a window sill in a sunny window.
