I've noticed there are a hell of a lot of people out there who only answer not ask on Questions, is it because you can expose yourself to looking stupid if you ask a question but can feel a sense of purpose or superiority if you answer one

I mostly answer questions because I know a lot and I like to share my knowledge and opinions with others. I don't ask many questions because I prefer other means of finding my answers (like asking a friend, or using wikipedia).

no, I have asked only 17 questions , but have answered
many. It's just that a lot of people have asked the
questions I was going to ask , so I get the info.

You don't look stupid if you ask a sensible question at all - it's just the thoughts of having to wade through a pile of shite in the form of answers that bothers most people!

I just tried to ask a question, which was answered underneath straight away as someone had already asked the same question..
