When I had my D&C, my doctor said I may have a light period for the next cycle, and then the one following should be normal. He was right, I spotted for 2 days for what was to be my next period and then the one following that was normal. I didn't have any health complications at all after it.

As soon as you ovulate and have a period your body is ready to conceive. Some doctors will tell you to wait 3-6 months or even a year. All you're doing is waiting however. In the past, before ultra-sound technology this was suggested so that your menstrual cycles could re-establish and they could calculate a due date. Now with the high resolution ultra-sounds, you can tell how far along you are, even at a few weeks.

You should try again, however, when you are emotionally, spiritually and mentally ready. Miscarriage is a very difficult experience. I've had two miscarriages this past year, and after the first one, I could not get pregnant fast enough, after the second one, I've been less enthusiastic about being pregnant again. It's been six months and I'm just now feeling like I have the heart and nerve to try again.

With all of that said, your period should come back with in 4-6 weeks after you've stopped bleeding from your D&C. I recommend keeping a joournal of your cycles the first few months after. It's helped me see if I'm back on a normal cycle. And it's also been a good record of my general health and a record of questions for my doctor.

Good luck with every thing. I hope things go better for you next time, know you are not alone in this and that many women are here to help if you need it. God Bless.
