Americans have allowed the language to become filthy and vulgar. I still cringe, but unfortunately not a great many people even think about it any longer. I don't know if nothing is supposed to shock us any longer, or we have just become lazy about having any standards to live by. Some of the problem is laziness, just as we see exhibited on here on a daily basis. Some of it is just apathy, people who are so tied up in their own daily lives, they don't pay attention. This did not happen overnight, it has slowly gotten worse and worse over the past couple of decades. I resisted even having a computer in my home, until I decided to go to graduate school, as I knew I would be inviting in a lot of things I don't want to see or even really know about, although it is almost inevitable, at this point. I do not even have cable tv, I would rather read a book rather than pay money to be subjected to some of the "offerings" of cable. If I could pick and choose only the stations I wanted, that would be fine; but that isn't how it works. I am glad that I was brought up to be ladylike and use acceptable language. I do not have to spend any time policing the way I speak or write or even think because of this. I have to really concentrate on ignoring a lot of bad language and suggestiveness I see on here; or I would be spending the whole time just reporting nonsense. I come on here to learn something I don't know and to try and help other people out. I do it as a form of relaxation and fun and do not want to ruin it by becoming the Yahoo Answers police. It is really disgusting that this type of demeaning language is so prevalent now, you even have it in some commercials. I am proud to be an American and am generally really proud of the USA, but will not embrace this vulgarity and I do not care who thinks that I am not "cool or hip or with it or whatever the term of the moment is." I would rather be considered old fashioned or old school, thank you very much. Have a good day!

Hello,
I wonder about that too.I guess the people that make movies give the public what sells the best.
From some of the answers you got for this question there are a lot of people out there that don't find vulgar language offensive.
That just shows that the morality of this country is deteriorating.

I think you have been watching too many movies. Movies are way overdone and are nothing like American life. Using the same logic that leads you to assume that all Americans use a lot of bad language then you can assume that we all handsome or gorgeous, carry guns, fight like wildcats, drink like fish, and all have very exciting jobs and interesting lives. Try to keep things in perspective. People don't go to movies to see things they can see or do in their world. Movies are fantasy and fabrication. Always look to find the whole truth before you pass judgement, then hesitate.

I like it very f*cking-frigging-digging much! The American language is very funny sometimes, even being vulgar or dirty.
Believe me, Russian is soooo much worse... It has a special language category called 'mat'.
It's not something to be proud of, quite the opposite, honestly.

film makers produce the movie and actors/actresses read the lines of their script no matter if the words are good or bad. movies arent real they r made up so that u will think its reality. ppl say what they want to say b/c they have an ammendment that guarantees them freedom of speech so they carry on like bloomin idiots with their language . plzz dont judge everyone by the movies u watch. it wouldnt be fair to say that everyone was like they are.

It has to do with the censorship laws here.... Movie makers are allowed to use almost any language and show the most horrific violence, but if they try to show too much of the human body they can be shut down...

Why are you even on the "AMERICAN" area? You should click on your flag, not some "f@cked up country" according to you. We say sh!t and f@ck you to people like you that deserves to be called that. At least the USA is not a 3rd world country.

Good question. You are right, they do speak with a lot of bad words. I guess this is just the trend of these times. Talk so that people understand, I guess.
