How can I be assured that support money is being given to him while he is in college?

College is not part of the divorce settlement.

Support money is not supposed to go to your son, but to your ex-spouse, and you have no discretion over how it is spent. If you feel your ex is not serving your child's best interests, you could sue him/her.

From first hand experience, you can't. Once the money goes to your ex, there is nothing you can say or do about it. The only other way is to have your son declared emancipated and then pay him directly. The courts are not usually in favor of this if you have an agreement that you will be paying until your son is out of college. Best of luck to you!!

You can't and depending on what state you're in, paying for your child's college if he's under 21 might not be voluntary at all.

He's old enough for you to give the money directly to him. I want to applaud you for paying your child support -there are many that don't.

You could pay the school directly. Get him a credit card that is billed to your home address. ( depending on his personality and how responsible he is)
Give him the checks.
