Get rid of the switch and buy a router!

Try pinging 127.0.0.1 on the machine that does not work. If you get no reply install TCP/IP and make sure your network adapter is showing up in Device Manager.

You can also reinstal the driver for the network adapter - make sure you have it before you try.

If the ping is successful that means the connection is probably good within the computer so try the next closest thing - the cable. This will also test the cable connections.

If this doesn't work try a different port on the switch.

If that doesn't work try putting the cable directly into the dsl router.

There are many possibilities, and I've assumed you have Windows although this will hold up in general.

Goood luck. It's usually a little thing.

Goto the run line, and type in: netsetup.cpl on the computer that is not working correctly. make sure u use the correct workgroup name as both of the other computers, and complete the wizard there. You will have to reboot. Then wait 15 minutes for the other computers to "see" the third computer. Also disable any firewall you may have running.

Gita Sehgal might desire to be counseled for being genuine to the unique human rights reason. Amnesty international has grow to be an Islamic propaganda gadget. there are a number of such "Human rights activists" parading in India too like Teesta Setalvad. She's by no ability fought for the rights of those burnt alive interior the prepare at Godhra or the victims of 26/11 assaults yet has made a occupation out of Gujarat riots. i would not be bowled over if those so referred to as Human rights activists are funded by ability of Islamic petro funds. they have no longer something to do with Human rights and the reality. Infact she became caught by ability of take a seat making quite a few exaggerated fake claims of muslims being tortured throughout riots.

Get the IP address of the third machine (say it is 192.168.0.200)
Go to one of the other machines
Click on Start
Select run
Type in \\ followed by the IP of the third machine (\\192.168.0.200)
Should open a window showing you that PC
Usually after the other PC has seen it once, you will be able to talk to it

If you're talking like having RTOs if you ping the third, go to Windows Firewall (from control panel) and click on advanced tab. Try to check the LAN properties and the ICMP. It should accept Echoing or Remote Desktop.
