War is a Social disease! It has a cure just like many diseases! It's called PEACE! Nations that cause war should be isolated and shunned just like any contaminated diseased entity! At least until they are willing to accept the treatment and the cure! Only the insane promote war! They are sick and need help! They must be removed and isolated from civilized society before they hurt anyone else! They could select one nation on Earth and decide this is the only place that is acceptable to settle disputes. Any leader that wants to go to war should be dropped by parachute into the middle of this area. I believe the North Pole should be selected as the settlement area! Let the transport of all warlike leaders begin at once! They're to be dropped naked with no weapons or devices of any kind into this settlement area! If they require another drop then they face permanent solitary confinement for life! This will give them and others a reason to think twice about doing things repeatedly!

There are some philosophies and ideologies that are more prone to needing conflict in order to survive, but war is basically a human behaviour that can be taken advantage of by people in power. It requires people in power to take advantage of, or even profit from, a situation for a misunderstanding to become a war.

What is this basic human behaviour? It is that people want and grasp for what they don't have; they are dissatisfied and don't want the situation that they do have; they can't get a real grasp on how to arrange life in a way that would be beneficial for themselves because that would entail that they realise that life needs to be arranged so that it is beneficial for everyone. Basically, people don't want to share.
They don't want to share power.
They don't want to share resources.
They don't want to share ideas.
And so on . . .

And along with that people take advantage of wanting to be part of a group, to be told that they have the right nation, race, ethnicity, government, religion, ideology, and so on . . .

People are wanting to get an easy solution to life's problems. An enemy provides that.

When people are in a group they can collectively justify and do what they would not do as individuals. Armies are designed to be exactly this kind of collective group.

In this way a cycle of war is established, and it takes more courage to confront one's own group to break the cycle than it does to acquiesce to the group aggression. This is especially so since the group aggression is sanctified as a kind of sacrifice to the greater good. By the time we have progressed to that state, the confusion and dullness of mind make it even more difficult to apprehend a solution that would benefit everyone and the cycle is reinforced. Quite often the cycle has to play itself out until the exhaustion of resources.

It is a most unfortunate state of affairs.

well folks yous are all wrong because the reason wars occur is because leaders within that country arrange with other leaders of other countries to stage a 'war' when infact they are all in on it and try to make us believe that war is the only way to stop the violence and the evil people in the world. cant stop fights and fueds or volence with violence. to have peace you must be peaceful. the whole was plot is just so everyone thinks oh such and such are goin to stop all the maddness over in sum f**ked up country when infact its all a movie, we live in an illusion. its all to ensure that the bigger plan gets put in place. the NEW WORLD ORDER one policing, the same law, same rules. basically we are all gonna be zombies by 2012. they and when i say they i mean george bush tony blair leaders of iraq etc will say they are coming together to have peace when infact they are all working together to rule the world.

War happens to satisfy one's needs & in some cases just pure whim.

Some had genuine reason like Vikings, while some had genuinenly offered with pea-sized intellect like Bush.

no, it is not a childish question. it's a big question, it's a very hard matter to explain.

war happens because people have different interest. in order to fulfill theirs, they have to meet with other people as well as the other interest. those interest sometimes at different side, and not very friendly. so they need some kind of adjustment (compromise) to meet other interest as well to fullfill their own. when this adjustment can't be made, then a conflict will occur, when this can't be solved and those people let it prolonged, a war will happen.
In order to prevent wars, we have to understand what other needs, try to satisfy them but without sacrificing our own goal, which are very hard, to do this kind of things. but speak to your heart what is your very need. some greedy people that start the war.

It all starts as child pay, then it works itself upward. You have friends & allies, you work them toward your favor. Then at the right moment you have a WAR. Anybody do a indepth study how WWI started and how all the ties of relationships were interwoven for this WAR. It could be as simple as way of life !

Sometimes it is economics ot the haves and the have-nots. But, sadly, the most frequent cause or motivator for persons to go kill other persons has been the thing that tells persons on both sides they're SUPPOSED to be kind to and care for other persons. What thing teaches this that everyone says the ALWAYS go by the teachings even when their actions prove they do not? Why it the most successful business invented by humans: religion. Sad, but true.

because some people can't accept that some other people have different views to them. If one consideres someone else to be evil, then war happens. its always been that way and always will.
