If so how do they come to terms with the taboo nature of it? I mean it can't be wrong when it is so natural.

yes, some women can get turned on whilst breast feeding. i guess people would say its a taboo because you certianly wouldnt have sexual thoughts about a baby. however, having a baby suckle is a very natural & wonderful thing - it stimulates the body enough to cause the womb to contract & tighten up again after the babys birth, so i wouldnt be surprised that it can turn influence sexual hormones aswell.

having said that, when exhausted & breastfeeding, sex is often the last thing on a womans mind. i found breast feeding agony at its worst, but on good days i enjoyed relaxing & cuddling close with my baby - i never seemed to get that nurturing motherly feeling that friends had described & i felt quite guilty about it.

breast feeding or any 'incorrect' feelings on the topic arent often discussed as we are generally expected to - after the initial ouch stage - sit & nuture our babys in contented maternal bliss, proud that we alone are feeding our young, to admit otherwise is very unusual.

there is a very good book covering the topic called *fresh milk* its written by a woman who asked literally hundreds of women - and men - about their breastfeeding experiences. some readily admit that they have wonderful sex after breastfeeding or that they even breast feed their partners. i cant remember the author, but im sure a search via amazon or somewhere would mean its easy enough to find.

as long as sexual feelings arent directed towards the baby then there is no need for concern - humans may not be able to control our feelings but we can control how we act upon them.

Breastfeeding For Pleasure

Several years ago, there was a big to-do about a mother who called a 1-800 help line and asked if it was normal for her to get aroused while breast feeding. Would you believe Child Protective Services tried to take her baby away from her?!?!! OK, so it doesn't happen often, but it doesn't mean the woman is some kind of pervert or deviant if it DOES happen. Breast feeding IS natural, and the vast majority of women say their breasts are "hot spots" when it comes to sexual arousal, so if you do the math, there is at least some chance that a woman will become aroused when breast feeding a baby. So the woman should just accept it, get on with her life, and be VERY QUIET about it since most people will think she's weird. If she thinks it's a serious problem, she should talk to a psychologist or maybe use a breast pump and resort to bottles instead.

It is extremely rare for a mother to be sexually aroused by breastfeeding. I won't say it "never" happens, only that it has never happened to me in all the years I have been breastfeeding, nor has it ever happened to any person I know online or locally.

The circumstances, sensations, and hormones involved in breastfeeding do not tend to promote a sexual feeling, but a maternal, nurturing, peaceful feeling.

That's after the initial adjustment period, which can be stressful, confusing, and painful! Take a set of chip clips and clamp them on your nipples. That might give you a general sense what a breastfeeding mother experiences physically the first couple days. Of course, with breastfeeding you have this adorable wonderful new person in your arms gazing up at you with complete dependence and trust. The discomfort goes away after a few days or so, and some mothers don't get it at all.

Some women can "orgasm" from breast stimulation close to of the way a baby stimulates a mothers breasts to release the milk. I don't the the mother would get a orgasm that's related to sexual pleasure, but more of a mild "orgasmic" sensation that is often times uncontrollable. I personally don't gain "orgasmic" pleasure when my baby breastfeeds. The only "good" feeling I get is when I have a let down.

Blunt Honesty - Would you like to eat your next meal in a place where people take a dump? Disgusting! Breastfeeding in public is acceptable and legal in all states.

Breastfeeding does involve the same hormone (oxytocin) that labor and orgasm involve. But it's very different. It's not sexual. It can involved a warm and relaxing feeling because of the prolactin that is also released, but it's not a sexual sensation.

Not likely. It's a nurturing feeling when a mother breastfeeds her child.

To "Blunt Honesty" who made the comment about breastfeeding in the restroom...why don't you eat your next meal in one, or try to sit down with a baby in your arms to feed them, and maybe you'll see just how ridiculous that statement was.

I know I never did, I can remember early on being so full of milk that it was a relief to have my kiddo nurse but other than that there was no sexual feelings at all. I've actually never even heard of a mom say that

Breastfeeding your child does not cause "sexual arousal", it does, however, make you feel tired as the hormone "oxitocin" kicks in to relax the mother so she can concentrate on feeding her child. Now, if your husband decides to get ahold of your breasts.............well, that's a different story.

I breast feed all of my children and wasn't sexually stimulated but I don't think it's unusual if a mother felt some type of stimulation. As long as the sexual stimulation is not directed at the child, your fine.
