If you want cross-platform capability, go with a Java and Oracle solution, rather than VB.NET solution (if you're wanting to do .NET, use C# instead). Oracle has lots of useful tools for Java development; my favourite is JDeveloper (free download from Oracle).

nicely Java is a programming language and Oracle is a database provider. instead of Jave pass the C direction, the two C++ or C#, i'm a win32 developer. yet out of Java and oracle i think of Oracle will open the main doorways for you as there at the instant are not various Oracle DBA's

You go with java. Though all say java is difficult, more packages, more configuration, now more tools are available for configuration. and in java if u do hardwork u can easily go abroad. I suggest u this platform.

All the Best.

I suggest you use .NET. It is easy to program. But don't go for VB.NET. Use C# instead!
