It is a trick of mixing light or radio waves that has traveled over different paths so that they will add and subtract from each other. This data of change is directly equal to the measured movement.

Like most interferemoters, it measures wavelengths of light.

And, as soon as you learn how to spell it, you'll get over 120,000 hits out of a search engine just like I did. I even found a couple sites with detailed drawings.

Isn't that the experiment that showed there is no 'aether' that occupy the empty space? By showing light was not traveling through some medium called 'aether'?
