Why is so much attention being focussed on obesity causing overloading NHS resources when smokers, alcoholics and drug addicts have consistently contributed to budget deficits since treatment was first offerered to them (many years before it was offered to overweight people). At least an obese person who has had stomach stapling cannot seriously abuse the procedure they have had whereas smokers and alcoholics for example can continue to smoke and drink after transplants and druggies can relapse straight away after rehab as many do!

Because our government are turning into fascist's, they are singling out certain groups of people just the same way Hitler did with those poor Jews, guess if the obese were drug using alcoholics who decided to become anorexics they would get all the help they required, unfortunately obese people are the only group were no help is forthcoming to help them in anyway, the only thing that is happening for them is blame, I wonder if a mother who suddenly puts a few pounds on and goes beyond her BMI scale will have her children taken off her and be classified as an unfit mother, I think it is a downright disgrace and insult to any obese person to be condemned for the lack of resources in this country when drug addicts get what the hell they want, they are scum, never work or pay tax, have every available help line and self help group going, get free this and that to help them, free prescriptions, drop their dirty needles on the floor and pass their Hep C disease onto the innocent, make areas unsafe and unlivable because of their habit, but hey that's OK, at least there not obese are they, the world has gone mad, our country is the worst for it and should be totally ashamed of how its turning out.

So much attention is given 2 it Because some Obese people treat their obesity like an ILLNESS!
The food forced it's self on them!
They may call it an addiction, I call it a lack of willpower.
& why they're drawing attention that they lack self-control, is beyond me.
It's the shame of thousands of starving Children around the world, who proberly couldn't understand why these fat people R fat, either!
U eat until UR full or up 2 the Calories U require each day.
2,000 4 women & 2,500 4 men
Why do they need 2 eat past that amount 2 Obesity?

I believe the issue that a lot of people have is not necessarily restricting treatment to the obese, but that the definition of obese is set at too low a weight.
For example, George Clooney is clinically obese based upon the NHS standard.

its to do with obese people recieving free IVF treatment, you will probably find that smokers are not allowed or are at least at the bottom of the IVF list because both these factors seriously reduce the chance of getting pregnant, so why throw money down the drain? anyway's if it encourages people to loose wieght it cant be bad?

what gets me is that if you are obese /fat people think including doctors that you sit around eating all day ...OK maybe some people do but most people don't they either eat the wrong food for there bodies or they have a medical condition that has made them that way .....I my self have put weight on but am not obese and its because of the tablets the hospital put me on .... am on 2 types and one puts weight on you (even the doctor said it does)and the other is meant to help take it off..... as for ivf surely it should be there for everyone who has never had a child not for people who have kids or are oap

NHS stands for national health service.
i dont believe that alcoholics, obese people or smokers should recieve treatment off the NHS.
they are prepared to ruin their bodies, so why should we pay for their treatment.
obese people are weak and the argument that its genetic is aload of balls. ppl starving in africa ya no!
