I don't think you should lie at all. I mean it's your birthday, yeah it's unfortunate thate the 9/11 tradedy happened on your birthday, but every important day in history is someones bithday.
I hope you have a lovely birthday. Happy birthday for the 11th
Kind regards

I got married on the 11th September - 1976 - but divorced in 1985, so maybe the day is a tad haunted!
In '76 (for the youngsters!) there was such a long hot summer in the UK that they appointed a Minister for Drought to oversee the drinking water crisis. Guess what day the long hot spell broke, with howling wind and torrential rain? You got it - Sept 11. lol

I don't think you should, but I can see why you might feel uncomfortable. It probably depends on where you live etc, but you shouldn't feel embarrassed, it's not your fault.
And, with the greatest respect possible, America has such a big thing about 9/11 because it is not used to it. I know that so many people lost their lives that day, and of course it is terrible, but many other countries are at war and lose people constantly. And other countries have been subject to mainland attack more recently (for example, all through WW2, Britain and Europe were subject to attacks) so I think it is just a bigger shock for America.

No way. My cousin's birthday is also September 11th, and she feels honored to share such a day with an important piece of our American history.
It's true, it can be sad at times, because most people wouldn't celebrate on that day. But it's still your special day, nonetheless. If it bothers you, just wait until the weekend to celebrate, and if it bothers others, screw them! They're not your real friends anyway!

people are being over sensitive, you were born 32 years before the event its self. Its just a date, im sure people got wierd looks in the USA 200 years ago if their Bday was on 4/7.
200 years from now you'll be fine nobody will bat an eye lid when you tell them your birthday
My brithday is 23rd Dec and my Dad is 24th and my good lady friend is 22nd, now i get some wierd looks when i tell folk that.

No, dont lie about the day. People need to put the past behind them, or deal with the fact of what happened a little better cause let's face it....s*&t happens and we will always remember it but we don't need to keep harping on it. Let's give those ones who lost their lives our blessings and prayers and move on. I am sure that isn't going to be the end of terrorism in this country.

Co-incidence is a strange thing. My Mother in law died on September 11th as did many other people in England and Europe.Allthough she died of natural causes after a fall her death will always be linked to those in America.

Why lie? Because some people are narrow-minded? I was born in the 25th of March which is a national holiday in my country. You know, many people say that people who happen to be born on special dates are rather lucky.
