The kids would be in grades 4 thru 6, and we would meet 2x each month . . . but where to begin? Other than the creative writing teachers who else might need to be somewhat involved to get the "club" started at the school?

clear it all with the principal, then let the kids come up with ideas.

let them interview the teachers, write about current events from their perspective, and let them draw the comics.

be sure to feature the authors' names prominently for the proud parents to see, and ne sure to have several copies displayed during parent teacher conferences and open houses.

perhaps you could send a memo home with the kids to recruit for volunteers....maybe a parent or two has journalistic experience and could help guide the project.

then take a copy or two to local merchants. sell small ads and use that money to buy a camera. have the kids take photos to go with the stories.

and remember to have fun!

Gather the student- staff and let them choose their lead-editor and allow them the chance to run it their way.
