Individually the US players are vastly superior to those around the world in Basketball. The problem is that US Basketball players, especially the "stars" do not know how to play a team game.

The NBA is a one on one, slash to the basket game. They are not great zone defenders, they are not great team defenders. When you put a compilation of stars on a team you have what is a good exciting all-star team that can't play defense and has no sense on the concept of defense.

I don't think Greece or any other world team could beat the Miami Heat or the Detroit Pistons. It might be better to let the latest world champion in the NBA become team USA. And fill in with a comprable star if a foreign player leaves to play for their nation.

The United States has to put a team back into the team sports.

I believe that basketball has come to be accepted in other countries because pro players make so much money. We taught other countries how to play the game and now we have forgotten. The other countries are mostly fundamentally sound, while we have become more entertainment oriented. A lot of the players have lost sight of the "game". Too much in showing what they can do,instead of playing like a team. If we don't watch out,we will become "the other countries". Notice how many players are from other countries? Also how many are picked in the first round of the drafts.

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

Yes they do.. why can't they get it into their heads that they are not the best at everything.
Greece won and that's it nothing can change that.
They are Pi**ed off because Basketball is one of the 4 national sports in which they think they are dominant so they get chewy as f**k if they lose in one of them.
