I do ignore because I don't have the time or patience to deal with ignorance and as far as educating the ignorant there is no chance of that because they are going to think and feel how they want to. I am a proud lesbian and I do not care about how one feels about me in the beginning I had to defend myself I and more secure now to the point that I do not have to do that and especially to ignorance. I am proud of who I am and if people don't like that then it is just too bad for them. You couldn't have asked a better question, this question hit the nail right on the head. I agree with you 100%.

To blow off steam. I say things on here that I would never say in real life, because there is very little chance of being dragged behind a truck and stoned to death over a Y!A response. The questioners don't know where I live, do they? I may have to resign myself to a sarcastic sigh and rolling of the eyes in person, but on the internet the gloves come off.

If they want to put their feelings down on our screens then why can't we put our feelings up on theirs? And yes, there are younger ones that visit this site and I agree that they should read the other side of the argument instead of just the "God hates you and you're all gonna burn in hell" line.
It's called fairness. I don't care if I get them all riled up. It'd serve them right. This is an open forum and if they want to fill our screens with hate then why should we stand by and let them? Yeah, I make a habit of reporting them too but Yahoo seems fairly slack with that so I'll add my 2 cents worth. And why the hell shouldn't I?!

I do ignore the stale poot type of questions. The truly harmful stuff I worry about, because I know there are a lot of young people who come to read this section, young people who have already been damaged by hearing that kind of talk in their families, their schools, their churches and their communities. They NEED to hear the opposing voice. They need to know that they are okay, that they have a place in this world, that God loves them and that there is hope for them in the future.
So I can't sit idly by and let them hear ugly voices in this place which should be safe for them.

I try to ignore it too. Any response we could give them is lost on them anyway, as they are already convinced that we are a bunch of sickos.
It is crazy the number of hateful, mean or just plain stupid stuff we have to read through to find a real question.

I agree with you and I can also say how HARD it is to be quiet sometimes. I highly resent being put into the catagory of a pedophile! I'm a mother for god's sake!!! I don't look at my daughter's young friends and think "yummy". I mean c'mon!!! They're little kids!!!! THAT is what burns me up.....The other stupid stuff....I ignore. Why bother? THey only hear what they want to hear.

I can't agree with you more and to answer your question I think sometimes we have to stick up for our rights but I still agree with you because with 99% of the haters I will report and just give them a thumbs down with no reply to them and no answer and by doing this they will get sick of making new accounts and stop with their hate :)

Well for some it is ignorance that causes them to ask such questions.
It's better to educate them if you can.
For others, it's hate that drives them. Report them and do so properly. Fill out the little box, they get removed much quicker.

Why ignore them? We have a voice and we should stick up for ourselves. And actually, I have seen heterosexuals stick up for us lately as well. If someone is bashing me I'm not going to sit back and just ignore it. I have the right to voice my opinion back and I'm going to use that right.
