If you are from India, It may take some time for you to get UK student visa, but on producing right documents, I am sure you will get one.
Just one question... what do you want to study in UK?? If you intend to do undergraduate programme then I think Inida is the BEST but for post graduate programmes you can also look into NUS (National University of Singapore). It will not only fall cheap but also keep you close to your country. Try it Shital...it's good :-)

Depends where you are from. For example, in Australia you can submit an application for a visa in person to the consulate and get the visa a few hours later. My understanding is that this would work for a student visa. This is of course requires you to have all the necessary documentation ready - as they can be quite picky about having originals of everything and will need all sorts of things to prove you can support yourself financially, that you are legitimately studying etc.
The British consulate/embassy wherever you are are the people to contact and perhaps they offer the same sort of same day service. I would call them and check. There is no way you would get one in that time by sending in your documents because they can take weeks to process and you have to give them your passport during that time.
Don't try to come here without sorting out your visa properly first because dealing with the relevant authorities in the UK to fix things is a nightmare.

I'm not sure why several people thought you were embarking from India? Wherever you are, you have to get working on it ASAP! Did you purchase your airplane ticket yet? You'll need a round trip ticket.......any reputable Travel Agency can help you with this. Have you checked the UK's website for entry requirements? The WS for the carrier you're flying should also have this info. Unfortunately, in the climate of today's world, you may encounter delays. Good luck, bon voyage and study hard!
