a good way is to use memory keys and highlight key factors do some exercises and case studies out of your text book make notes stick diagrams a pictures or key notes and facts around you home like your bathroom toilet kitchen etc and on the TV that way you will never forget then also devise a study time table as well so you can allocate a breaks and lunch break for yourself. also for notes and information use Highlighter pens colour pencils for notes and diagrams.
also get hold of study guides tapes and videos from your local library who will have it for free or you can buy them from whsmith or water stones book shop these are very useful as they will help you more.
remember take it easy and try using memory keys and use key words to help you that way you can digest information quickly. refer to your notes you made in class that is always useful arrange to meet with your tutors for a brief coffee chat or a meeting to discuss your studying because your tutor may be able to offer you suggestions and techniques and maybe able to go over somethings with you if you do not understand.
ok
good luck

This stuff was told to me by a friend who is a neurobiologist and studies the brain and studying. You may not like the answers but they have been shown to work. 1. concentrate only for about 40 mins a time then have a short break. 2. remove all other sensory stimuli. This means turning off the TV and music. Interestingly putting on quiet classical music such as Mozart has been shown to improve your brain's capacity to retain information. 3. If you are a visual person (eg see pictures in your head) then put the information you need to remember in visual form eg diagrams, pictures mind maps etc. If you are a sound processor of information (eg remembers your tutors giving the lesson) then make a tape or a silly song of the info.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you stick with it!

If your brain has melted, I know how you feel. The best remedy is to stop studying and do something different (and get some sleep) before returning to your studies. If you must study more tonight or today, then at least take a walk then a nap first.

You probably just need to step away from the material for a while. I found that frequent naps can help when I'm learning something new. As for the actual studying, I just read the material a few times. If it's quite boring, check out a few additional texts and read the varying (although honestly it's still pretty similar) ways that they present the material. Good luck.

First re-write your notes - in your own words and if you have time, tape record them.
Then, recite them in front of the mirror - this is a great technique used by actors too - it helps reinforce what you wrote.
Thirdly, the best way of learning something - is to teach the subject to someone else! Have you heard the term 'study Buddy'? If you're lucky enough to have one . . . you'll find learning the material a breeze (two heads are better than one).

To understand and learn more effectively, explain the stuff to an imaginary student...pretend to be the teacher. As you explain it, refer to your notes, draw diagrams to help the 'student' visualize what you are talking about. As you pretend to be the teacher you will find that the concepts and information sticks in your brain much better than just reading about it. Maybe there is more interaction between both sidea of your brain???

Try the Tony Buzan method of "Mind Mapping".
I first came across this technique in the late 70's and have often used it. I taught my children to use it in their studies too. The technique can be applied to anything you want to remember, not just academic studying.

Study at the time of the day you like most.Or don't study when you're sleepy or tired.Rest or take a nap first. When you are memorizing, imagine that the words are written on the walls. That's how I memorize. And it works!Hope I helped you!

Take a ten minute break, with lots of fresh air and move on to a different topic. Don't stay on this topic for longer than an hour.
