i think the most important thing u need is Mathematics ... then u need logic ... u should hav innovative ideas ... u should be up to the task which u have been given .... i think that u should first have some knowledge about whatever u want to do ... refer to search engines for the same ... u should also know basic structures of computer which are not taught in any engineering university

Well, I can suggest something like this
- Make sure you select a particular path to master. For example, if you are doing JCP, OCP type of examinations, you can be a software developer, system designer, etc. If you select CCN, MCPE stuff; your path is networking. Or you can do adobe certified exams and become a good designer. So have a goal about your area. Don’t try to master every thing. You can learn them but may only master one or few
- Don’t get much in to the stuff like Computer games, Internet, songs and things. They’ll really eat up your valuable time!
- Make sure you have an up-to-date knowledge. Refer to PC related magazines, web sites, etc. I used to learn MS DOS, WordPerfect, and Lotus 123 years ago. But now, nobody use them. VB 6 is almost gone and now it’s VB.NET 2005!!
- Be committed for your studies. Never give up!

Ahhh … that’s all I can say for the moment!
Good luck with your studies

Logic, and knowledge

is that all we want?

Yes your question is not clear for me. Computer science is a big ocean. So first thing you wanted to know what you wanted to do there. And it is depend on how much you are interested in that. And how much effort you are ready to put.

One problem i have noticed is that. when people start they had the pace. but when they reached somewhere they will stop there. So in my openion. Don't stop with something. Stop where you planed.. ha ha..

Some people already told you what are major areas.

And i had problem with logic and math connection.

Yes i agree, we need logic.. but do we need that much maths? Yes maths a good instrument for exercising logic. But is that the only way? idon't think so.

I second the comments of others that Logic is import (logical reasoning, and design skills are much more important than math), especially if you are interested in the Programming part of computer science. Also, see the article below:

More important>>> learn logic and as much math as possible.
Of course, it is better to have a scientific calculator than a joy stick in your hands.
