Past Studies have shown that in the future, we'll need a Catagory 6 in the scale due to the intensity of the storms to increase. They said that more 160 mph or greater hurricanes will start occuring in the near future

Short Answer: The scale for hurricanes only goes up to 5.
Longer Answer: If one were to assume a category six hurricane would be approx. 175 mph winds or higher, then there have already been category 6 hurricanes.
The basic idea behind hurricanes is that they move energy from the tropics toward the poles. This means the warmer the oceans are, the more energy that has to be moved via hurricane to poles.
Good question!

The Saffir-Simpson scale, which is used to measure hurricanes, divides hurricanes by their pressures and windspeeds, but truly is designed to measure the amount of damage that a hurricane causes. For example, a category 1 hurricane will damage unanchored mobile homes, tress and shrubbery will be uprooted, and some piers will be damaged from the storm surge, but most buildings will be OK. A category 3 hurricane will destroy mobile homes and many small residences and outbuildings will be damaged, and some destroyed because of curtainwall failures. (Curtainwalls are walls that do not bear structural weight.)
A category 5 hurricane will cause total structural failure in a majority of residences and some industrial buildings. There is no need for a higher category.

Let's hope we never have to
.
Category Pressure (MB) Winds (MPH) Surge (FT) Damage
1 980+ / 74-95 / 5-8 / Minimal
2 965-979 / 96-110 / 9-12 / Moderate
3 945-964 / 111-130 / 12-17 / Extensive
4 920-944 / 131-155 / 14-20 / Extreme

If they get really hot, we can get cups of tea straight from the tap. That would be neat.
